Iwata Asks - 3DS XL

If you've been wanting some of the finer details on the design of the 3DS XL be sure to hit up the link below.  As usual, it's a lengthy discussion about the 3DS XL's design, why certain decisions were made, and some of the finer details about what exactly what into the creation of the 3DS XL.  It was a really informative interview for me, plus check out that transparent 3DS XL!

Get Double Club Nintendo Coins

If you download New Super Mario Bros. 2 from the eShop you'll get double the coins compared to buying and registering the retail version.  Pretty sweet, I was thinking of downloading the digital version anyways.  As far as I'm concerned, the less game cards I have to carry around, the better.  I hope that Nintendo will bring games that are already released (Mario Kart 7, Resident Evil: Revelations, etc.) to the eShop.  I love the idea of just being able to grab my 3DS and not worrying about grabbing my games as well.

Iwata talks about Wii U - Being first to Market isn't Important

Talking about being first to market:

"Being first in the next generation race is not important at all," he says. "One of the reasons we believe this is the time for Nintendo to launch the Wii U is it's going to be important for the world."

Talking on Wii U pricing:

"Our intention is to return to profitability after just one year of losing money," he says. "I just cannot say that it's a good thing for Nintendo at all to record an annual loss for two or more years in a row. … The [loss of the] past year is due to the 3DS hardware sales. We were selling hardware below the cost, so this year we are already recovering and improving the profitability of the 3DS."

"The pricing of Wii U is going to be one of the most important elements when it is going to be launched," he says. "The environment is different. Wii U is going to be launching in a different environment than when the Wii was launched. Also, the involvement surrounding [mobile and social] businesses is different than several years ago."

Responding to those saying the Wii U/Nintendo is doomed:

"Even when we were going to launch the Wii system, there were a lot of voices saying 'Nintendo should stop making hardware'," he says. "The reasoning behind that was Nintendo would not have any chance against Microsoft and Sony. The fact of the matter was: I did not think Nintendo should compete against these companies with the same message and same entertainment options for people.

"We have not changed our strategy. In other words, we just do not care what kind of 'more beef' console Microsoft and Sony might produce in 2013. Our focus is on how we can make our new console different than [others]."

3DS XL Accessories on the way from Snakebyte

Seeing as the 3DS XL doesn't come with a charger in both Japan and Europe, I can see a lot more people picking up those accessory packs that come with a bunch of things, among them a charger.  Not sure what these will be priced at, hopefully not much.

Hit Points - Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two

Console Wars

I saw this over at GoNintendo and had to post it.

1UP - No. 98 of The Essential 100, Phantasy Star Online

Not really news, but I absolutely love PSO.  Back when I had a Dreamcast I played this game to death.  My brother and I were so addicted to this game, there were days where we would seriously each play 12 hours. People were getting mad because they couldn't get through on the phone, were talking dial-up days of online gaming here, and my poor Dreamcast never got a chance to "rest."  PSO made it to the Gamecube with a new episode, which was cool, but I would love to see a PSO game on the Wii U or the 3DS.  Anyways, you can check out the article via the link below...  Man I love this game!

Thoughts on Pachter Wii U Pro Controller Comments, maybe a rant...

Ok, so first off this all started with Michael Pachter.  Sometimes he has some interesting things to say, but other times...  I'm just wondering where the heck he thinks up of these things.  Recently he stated that Activision leaned on Nintendo to produce the Wii U pro controller so that people could play Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 on the Wii U.  Here's the actual quote:

"Activision never said anything to me, but I know that [for] big games like Call Of Duty they said, 'No, we're not putting it on there if you don't give us a conventional controller'. So they gave in."

I don't believe this is the case, especially seeing as Nintendo ALREADY have the classic controller and classic controller pro available for the Wii.

Iwata Asks - Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

There is a ton of information, when I say that I mean several long pages, so I am just going to post the link to the actual interview.  They talk about Theatrhythm, Super Mario 64, and of course Kingdom Hearts.  Click the link below to check out the entire interview.

ZombiU - Zombies Take Buckingham Trailer

This guy has obviously never read through the Zombie Survival Guide...

New Super Mario Bros. U Walkthrough at SDCC

I thought it was interesting that the person doing the walkthrough mentioned a little bit about Miiverse.  Being able to leave "sticky notes" for your friends sounds pretty cool, I just hope there is some customization to that, you know how you have those friends on Facebook that just spam... all... day?  Yeah, I wouldn't want that while I'm trying to enjoy my games.  Also, she confirmed that the baby Yoshis do not grow bigger if you feed them enough, which kind of disappoints me, I was hoping for that same Super Mario World mechanic.  Oh well it still looks like a great game!

Several Screenshots from Castlevania: The Adventure

I never had the chance to play this game as a kid, but I love the Castlevania series.  I can't wait to try this out.  I usually am a little wary about downloading old games that I never played before, mainly because I feel a lot of the value comes just from the nostalgia.  There have been several times where I was having a blast playing some old NES game and someone who had never played the game before says "This is boring..."  Though I did take a chance and downloaded the Gameboy version of Bionic Commando, which I have never played, and was pleasantly surprised.  It was a good game and I enjoyed playing through the entire thing, here's hoping Castlevania: The Adventure turns out the same way for me.
